MARIA DE BUENOS AIRES

is an outstanding event,
a surrealistic dance of things
and phenomena, a tango-opera (operita , as their authors named it) with the perfumes of Buenos Aires. Astor Piazzolla, the world-known great maestro of tango, composed the music on a libretto by the poet Horacio Ferrer.
Stage director is Giuliano Di Capua, Italian, borned in Switzerland, lives since 1995 in St. Petersburg.
The masterpiece, performed for the first time in 1968, consists of 17 items, singing, playing and dancing.
A star from Argentine is also invited: Gabriela Bergallo, who will be singing the main part. Both, the piece and Gabriela were recently nominated for the most important Russian performing-arts prize:
The Goldenmask.

GIULIANO DI CAPUA

Giuliano Di Capua born in 1971, Switzerland, Italy, Russland.
Actor and theater director from the Academy of Performing Arts in St. Petersburg. In 2002 Goldenmask Winner as co-director in «Oedipus Rex». Director of pieces like «The Vagina Monologues»  (Eve Ensler), «1900» (A. Baricco), «Le Libertin» (EE Schmitt), «Reservoir Dogs» (Q. Tarantino) and “Medea Episodes” (Alexeij Nikonov). Russia’s main roles in films like «4 Taxi drivers and a Dog» (F. Popov), «The Player» (P. Tschuckraij) and theater classics as «Harlequin» of C. Goldoni, «Oedipus Rex» by Sophocles, «Uncle Vanya» by Chekhov, «Antigone» by Sophocles, «La Venexiana».

GABRIELA BERGALLO

Gabriela Bergallo born in Buenos Aires, where she began her studies as singer. In 1991 began his solo career in Switzerland. Performances also in Italy, Germany, Argentina and Russia. Konzerts at Tonhalle Zürich, Fraumünster, Volkshaus Zürich, Kulturzentrum Gasteig, Munich, Hermitage Theater, Jazz Philharmonic Hall, Mali Philharmonie, Baltiskij Dom, Music Hall, St. Petersburg, Moskau Strassnov Theater, Luna Theater, etc.. Founder and artistic director of the Piccolo Musikfestival Embrach – ZH. 2009 was nominated for the Goldenmask as « best actress/ singer ».

REMOLINO ENSEMBLE

Every concert of « Remolino Ensemble », no matter where it performs, either in a philharmonic hall or in a small club, collects a big audience, and is considered a top event in the musical life of St. Petersburg. 
Emil Jakovlev – violin, Oleg Gulevsky – bayan, Mikhail Blekher – piano, Kirill Grigoryev – double-bass, created the ensemble in 2005. Two years later, REMOLINO launched into an ambicious project: the production of tango operita “María de Buenos Aires” from Piazzolla/Ferrer.  The idea was accomplished with Teatro Di Capua and the Russian Engineering Theatre “AKHE”. January 2008, it was the first performance at the Hermitage Theater in St Petersburg. and REMOLINO released a double CD with the operita’s music. In 2009 this production had 2 nominations for the National Golden Mask Award.

ACTORS

Ilona Markarova, Roman Zhdanov and Maxim Kuznetsov studied at the Theatre Arts Academy in St. Petersburg. 
Ilona has featured main roles in «La Venexiana», «The Vagina Monologues» (E. Ensler), «Antigone» (Sophocles), her one-woman-play «Madame V», experienced very various challenges in productions of AKHE Theater in Russia, Ucrania, France and Poland. Ilona features in the latest production of “Teatro Di Capua” with “Uniquetunes” and “PTVP”- “Medea.Episods” (text: Alexeij Nikonov, Direction: G. Di Capua)

Roman actually performs at Lensov Theater and Teatro Di Capua in St. Petersburg. 
Maxim performs regularly with different russian companies, like AKHE Theater, Derevo, Teatro Di Capua and Do Theater, in Germany.
